Journal 34

Journal number thirty-four prompt is “describe yourself.”
I think describing yourself is one of the hardest things to do in life. The way you see yourself can be completely different then from what someone else sees. I would like to see myself as a nice person but I know I have an attitude. Like you would say Mr. Langley, I can be very attitudinal. I think I am a motivated person. When I want something I do everything I can to get it.  I do not let people stand in my way when it comes to school work, with more personal things I do not. I mean people get in my way. I think I am pretty self-sufficient. I  can do things on my own, I do not rely on others to get my work done. I would rather be a leader than a follower. I like being in charge, especially at a smaller school like Plains. It is easier to step up and be a leader at a smaller place when you know people and know there personality. I would like to see myself as self confident. I am pretty well aware of my abilities and the things I can and can not do.  I am confident in who I am and what I want to do. For example, I want to get good grades so I can go far in life and set up a future for myself. I do not want others to define me because of who I am and what my last name is. Being a principals daughter people tend to judge me for being spoiled, a tattle-tale, and being stuck up. None of which is true. I think that the experiences I have had at this school and being an administrator's daughter has helped me become strong and make me stronger and capable in my abilities. Overall I would say I am a nice and well rounded person. I believe in myself, which I think is important. Oh and being pretty helps too.. Thats all goodbye.

Journal number thirty-three prompt is “what do you do to reduce stress and reconnect with yourself?”

Stress is a difficult thing to do with. There are many small things that cause me to stress out and do things that are effective. For example, eating is a common relieve to stress. When things get tough I tend to eat to relax, even when I am not hungry. This is not a good thing because I am eating unnecessary calories. Of course my problems are not as servere as some people who can be seen on tv. One example is the biggest loser. People are HUGE on that show because they overeat to relieve from stress. Some tips I remember from the show are to slow down and be present. When you are stressed calm down and focus on one thing. Reconnect with yourself. Also know  your limits. Cleary if you can’t handle it do not do it. Jillian Micheals, a trainer from the show, says expressing your feelings is also a step in to not overeating. If you let out emotions to get your desires.  I think the most important one is physical activity. This is something I do when I am stressed too. I go to the YMCA and run or do a hip hop class. Exercise helps you decrease stress and lose weight.  Another thing I do to relieve stress is have fun. Going out with friends and having a good time is an easy way to relax and bond with buddies. RELAX. Is what I tell myself when I am really stressed. Taking a deep breath and de-stressing is the key. Finally, the last thing I do when I am stressed is go for a long walk. Walking gives you time to think, as well as time to get away from stressors. Getting out of the stressful environment, breathing the air, and feeling your body move is natural stress-relief. Stress sucks. Everyone gets it and everyone has different ways to get over it.

Write about living in a different culture or social status.  is the prompt for the glorious journal number twenty seven.

Culture consists of the beliefs, behaviors, objects, and other characteristics common to the members of a particular group or society. Through culture, people can define themselves, be traditional to society's shared values, and contribute to society. Culture includes many societal parts. These include language, customs, values, norms, mores, rules, tools, technologies, products, organizations, and or institutions

I have never really experienced living in a different culture or social status so I will make one up. Once upon a time a long long long long long long time ago, well actually it was only two years ago. I am a mixed child so I have seen the wealthy white culture and the African american culture and even the poorer party of the country. This is about the time I went to Spain. I was 14 years old and did not know one lick of spanish. I was so so so so so scared to go to a country where the only word I knew was taco and nachos. I knew however that I had to go because it would be an experience that I would and could not forget. I was right. The culture was different then I could of imagined. I did not know how to order food! Let alone ask to go to the bathroom. I was scared again. What was I thinking, going to a country where I could not speak the language. Stupid Jessie! Thank god for Iphones. I was able to communicate by talking to siri and having her interpret what I wanted to know to the people of Spain.

The culture of Spain was amazing. There was music and dancing. The clothes were different and the music was also in a different language. I had a great cultural experience and learned lots about societal aspects. In sociology we learned language, customs, values, norms, mores, rules, tools, technologies, products, organizations, and or institutions help us define cultures.

Journal 32

Journal #32 Write about what it's like to revolutionize the way people think or do things.
I have personally never revolutionized the way people think or do things. Nor have I influenced the way people think or do things. I am sure it takes a lot of courage to revolutionize the world. You have to be open to criticisms and people disagreeing with you. A person would have to be a strong leader and eloquent speaker. To convince people to do things your way you have to be inspiring and emotional. This emotion could be good, bad, angry, happy, sad, intentful, honest, or brutal. Basically it could be anything. Many people have been able to revolutionize others. This can be through religion or beliefs. With facts or things that convince people that they are right. To change a society a person. An example happened today. We were in this grand old english class and most of the students were having a study hall. A friend and I were recording a slideshow for the class and kindly asked for the class to be quiet and considerate while we worked. They got louder. I politely asked again and one student gave me sass of how I need to go somewhere quieter then. First off how rude. Second off it shows no matter how hard you try some things in society do not change. People are going to be rude and going to give you a rough time. It is ridiculous that classmates can act like this, but if the world works out right it will work out in the end. That is all for today.

GOSSIP. We have all done it. We have all had it about us. We have all heard it. We have all seen it. Gossip is one of the bases of our country. Whether we mean to or if we do not me to we are saying stuff about other people.  No matter if people are doing good or if people are doing bad, gossip is being spread. Look at magazines. There are thousands beyond thousands of untrue articles written about famous people to spark readers interests  Look at twitter. Twitter is a bunch of indirect tweets that lead to people gossiping on what they are about. School is also a perfect example of gossip. Every minute school goes on I am certain someone is talking about or texting someone about some rumor they heard about a person at their school. Gossip is the foundation for drama. No one, at least that I know of, likes being rudely talked about behind their back. Once you hear of someone talking about you, you want to do something to them and talk the same way about them to your friends. This all boils up and drama comes up. It sucks too. Drama and gossiping bring out the absolute worst in people. Our school is lucky that we do not have girls fist fighting and hair pulling every single day. The thing about gossiping is you can say it so many ways. Over the internet gives people the courage to say thins they would not normally say to people. Usually these things are harmful. Just look at the statics. Children have committed suicide and harmed themselves of because of what others have said. It is truly sad, the level our country and people have sunk down too. Gossiping will always be a part of our culture. At least when I am alive. Our society is based on judging and gossiping about people. Like I said before. Gossip is told everyday wheter you are meaning too or not. SO do not gossip, its bad. GOODBYE>

Journal 30

I think civil rights is sort of a joke in our school. Pleasant Plains is a 97% Caucasian aka white school district. Not very many people have relatives or friends that are of color and they tend to make fun of those who are different. I actually am mixed. Half Caucasian half African American. One of two in the school. One of 6 in the entire district. No one really understands how it is to be different. I have gotten to the point where I am used to people talking bad about my race. For example right now everyone is saying why is not there white history month? People do not realize how far the African race has come. My ancestors had no rights what so ever. The world says them as slaves not people. I think that is sad. How can human beings be so cruel? The civil rights movement was a stand against racism. Thousands of people, black and white, came together and said we are people too. Just because you have a different color does not make them inhumane. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most amazing and courageous people the world has seen. He stood up peacefully and said this is not right. I can not imagine ever doing that. He was beaten and put in jail, yet he did not stop until rights were equal. He protested regilously and was true to himself. He had so many followers because he was peaceful and had a good purpose. I think those people who talk prejudicially and racially about MLK junior are ridiculous. People are raised on what they believe. If someone is raised to believe blacks are bad people then clearly they would not agree.  The Civil Rights movement is something i think the country and for sure this school could use. We need to learn from our history to ensure I future. As a descent of the African American culture I love hearing about civil rights and how people took a stand for what is right. If it was not for strong and courageous people like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks we may not be where we are today. That alone, is worth rememebering. This is the end of Journal number 30...Write about Civil Rights
